A beard transplant provides a completely permanent solution to those who struggle to grow a beard well and gives an easy way for men to get the beard of their dreams.

This is one that depends entirely on the exact situation of the patient as it will take much longer to perform a beard transplant on a client who is looking for a full beard than it would for a client who is looking to get a patchy area filled in. In general, we find that it takes anywhere from 2-5 hours for the surgery to be performed.

Of course you can, otherwise everyone who has ever had a beard transplant would be walking round with beards comparable to Gandalf or Dumbledore. We do advise waiting for at least two weeks after your surgery before shaving though to ensure that you don’t cause any damage to the transplanted follicles and also because your skin in the transplant area will still be quite tender.

Because the transplanted hair comes from your scalp and this is a different kind of hair to that which grows on your face, it will grow a little differently though this should not effect your results and the hair will look natural. The main thing that you will need to do is ensure that you groom your facial hair correctly and take care of it using the methods discussed during your consultation.

Following a beard transplant, there is very little downtime as it’s performed under a local anaesthetic, however the recipient and donor areas can appear red and swollen for a few days following the treatment as well as having a small amount of discomfort, though this should all fade over the coming days. As long as you follow the aftercare regime correctly, you should be able to resume your everyday life after around a week and your results should start to show around 2-3 months after your surgery.

As with all surgical procedures, there is a risk of scarring but thanks to the advancements in the technology used during beard transplants, any potential scarring is minimal. Normally during a beard transplant, the FUE method is used which utilises incredibly precise tools which should leave little to no visible scarring in both the donor and recipient areas. If there is any scarring at all, it will be very small and can be covered by the hair when it grows through.

Following your transplant, you’ll need to avoid exposure to the sun for a short while but otherwise, you aren’t required to make any drastic changes to your lifestyle. After this initial period, you can get back to your usual daily business.
