Frequently Asked Questions

On a day-to-day basis, we are asked hundreds of questions relating to UK Cosmetic Surgery, ranging from simple questions regarding plastic surgery treatments that we offer to questions that are much more advanced. Some of the questions that we are asked most frequently are;

This one is a little more difficult to answer as it varies depending on the job and the recovery of the individual patient. For example, working in an office environment is typically much less strenuous than working within a factory and in this case you would probably be able to go back to work much earlier, though we do recommend taking a break from work for at least 2 or 3 weeks following the surgery.

Usually during liposuction surgeries, the maximum amount of fat that can be removed is around three or four litres. If you require more than this to be removed, then we recommend booking in for multiple liposuction surgeries to achieve the best results.

It’s incredibly common for women to have one breast larger than the other, however in extreme cases this can be a noticeable difference. In these cases, it’s possible to create a more even appearance with a breast reduction surgery being used to reduce the size of the larger breast.

Not necessarily, this is dependent entirely on the individual surgery that is being performed and how much tissue is being removed. If a large amount of tissue is to be removed and the nipple would appear to be out of place following the surgery, the nipple can then be repositioned into the optimum location on the breast to maintain a natural appearance.

There are two kinds of breast implants that are considered safe and these are saline and silicone implants. The type of implant to be used is entirely dependent on your ideal goals, but both saline and silicone based implants are safe for augmentation or reconstruction.

Everybody can opt for a rhinoplasty surgery and for those with glasses, we advise taping them to your forehead instead of resting them on the bridge of your nose for a few weeks following your surgery to avoid putting any unnecessary pressure on the bridge of the nose.

As with all our surgical procedures, as long as you take care of yourself following the surgery then it will provide permanent results.

In short, the answer is yes. A lot of people confuse a tummy tuck surgery with liposuction or a gastric bypass and isn’t a treatment designed to help you lose weight. In fact, a tummy tuck surgery is performed to help you get rid of any excess skin and fatty deposits following weight loss.

A chest reduction surgery, as with any other form of surgery, carries a certain degree of risk with it, however it is a safe treatment to undertake. The risks associated with a chest reduction surgery include infection, bleeding and scarring, although your surgeon will take every precaution to minimise scarring and the risk of infection is heavily reduced if you follow the correct aftercare procedures.

In short, no, breast implants do not last forever. In fact, they’re likely to need to be replaced anywhere between 10 – 20 years after they have been implanted and it’s simply the natural wear and tear that occurs over time that cause them to need to be removed or replaced after this period.

Liposuction is not considered to be used a method of treating obesity, although it may be recommended alongside some form of abdominoplasty surgery to help someone with obesity before they start a diet and exercise regime to be able to lose weight and see lifechanging results.

It’s a little more difficult to say for definite yes or no with a re-augmentation surgery as there could be some form of existing problem from a previous breast enlargement. However, most women will still be able to breastfeed if they choose following a breast implant surgery as it doesn’t actually involve the milk ducts or the areas of the breast involved in milk production. There are some things during surgery such as the type of incision used and whether or not the implant is consider over or under the muscle, but this can be discussed with your surgeon prior to your surgery if you are planning on breastfeeding to ensure that you are still able to.

If your sinus issues are in relation to allergies then rhinoplasty will not be able to help, but due to the fact the surgery changes the shape of your nose it is possible that it can help you to breathe easier (depending on the surgery you have opted for).

It won’t, although it will lift the forehead and pull skin up, it doesn’t affect the eyelid skin at all.
