You’ll need somebody to give you a lift home following the surgery as we advise that you don’t drive for a minimum of 24 hours. After this period, you will be safe to drive again but just because you can doesn’t mean that you have to, make sure that you feel certain in yourself that you are up to driving.

Your stitches may dissolve on their own or your surgeon may remove them 3 to 5 days following the surgery. After this period, the eyelid may remain swollen and bruised for up to 3 weeks after surgery and the overall appearance of your eyes will continue to improve for the next few months.

You can shower after the surgery, but only from the neck down and it is important to avoid getting your eyes wet during this period. Usually around 5-7 days after the surgery, as long as the surgeon tells you that you are safe to, you will be able to shower normally again. Until this point, we advise cleaning your hair using products such as dry shampoo and rinsing your eyes with a saline solution.

Following your surgery, you may experience slight blurred vision for a short while but this should pass within a couple of weeks of being home.

Depending on the individual client, we sometimes opt for a general anaesthetic and other times we will use local anaesthetic alongside a sedative but you will not be awake during the surgery.

It usually takes between 7 to 10 days to recover from the surgery and go back to doing normal daily activities, with some slight bruising and swelling that may take around a week longer to fully disappear.

There are a few things that you can do to aid in your recovery and these will be outlined to you following your surgery, these include things such as;

• Wearing dark sunglasses on your journey home
• If you use contact lenses to see, wear eyeglasses instead for a few weeks
• Eat soft food for the first few days to cause less strain on your face
• Get as much rest as possible in the first few days following your surgery
• Rest and sleep with additional pillows to keep your head raised
